Last night at dinner, I was holding Lia in my lap and lifting her over my head then bringing her back down to my lap again. Suddenly, I thought I saw a trace of a grin. So, of course, I did it again and there it was! A big smile, teeth and all! We saw at least 3 or 4 smiles right then and it made our night. OF COURSE, I didn't have my camera (when will I learn?)
So as soon as we got back to the hotel room I did it once more, only to get the pouty lip and a whimper. Ooooh, she's good.
Yesterday, we walked around People's Park, which is near the hotel. It's another beautiful area full of Chinese culture and personality. I have really wanted to take pictures of the people. The different generations, activities, everything. It's all so beautiful. I just didn't want to be rude. Maybe I'll ask Mary today what she thinks. The people in Nanning are very friendly. Almost everyone will greet you with a smile and a nod. And I'm so grateful for those who speak a little English.
Last night at the restaurant, after we ordered and the waitress left, Scott said to me, "You know, when you point to yourself and say "Sprite" three or four times like you just did, she thinks it's your name. And if you say it slower and louder, it really helps." Guess he was right, because he got a drink and I didn't. At least now, she knows my name. :)
Today we are ready to head off to Gray Hill Park.
Well, most of us are ready....
Thank you so much for all your comments. We appreciate them so much!
China looks BEAUTIFUL! How awesome you have a chance to see it and take pictures of her homeland for her to enjoy. Yay for a smile! Keep enjoying the warm weather! Love yall and praying for you!
ReplyDeleteI can not get over how beautiful she is. I can only imagine how gorgeous she is with a big ole' smile on her face! So happy to see you all doing so well!
ReplyDeleteLove,

Been there with the "Oh I should have had my camera to capture that expression" moment. I believe though that seeing her first smile is a treasure of yours that is stored up in Heaven!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I laughed out loud about the Sprite...
Okay How funny... You don't want to be rude LOL. We are talking about China. The place were they stare at you non stop (up and down) whereever you go. Watch what you buy in a store.Follow you around in the market place like your a shoplifter. A place were they go stand by you just to take a picture with you.(which is so cute) They Watch you eat. And stare in your eyes (if there not brown)Just take your pictures. I was told the Chinese love to have their pic's taken.I would go stand by someone real close and have Matt or the guide take a picture they always got a kick out of it. We are like celeberties so they think it's cool .That is the one thing I loved about China. No Autographs Please:) I am so happy for the smile's y'all got. Your trip seems to be going so well. I am so happy for y'all.
