Labor Day and Da Bulls

As Labor Day weekend was upon us, we decided to take the kids out for a little pizza and baseball to enjoy the nice weather that we were having.

We started with a little pizza from the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Durham. The food was great and the outside dining was just what we needed when Lia had her pre-dinner meltdown.

Then we headed over to the stadium to watch the Durham Bulls play. It was almost sold out when we got tickets so we had to sit on the grassy knoll behind center field. Alex was camped out with his glove hoping for a home run to come his way.

And when Lia wasn't cheering the team on...

...she was focused on catching her own ball.

These two were quite a pair holding each other's hands as they strolled around the upper deck. Here, though, Lia is showing her independent streak...a rare occurence :)
Although, it's been fun checking out all the things there are to do in the area, it's still not the same as doing it with friends from home. Miss you all!

Butterfly Kisses

On Saturday we took the kids to the Life and Science Museum where everyone's favorite exhibit was the Butterfly Pavilion.

When they released more butterflies into the pavilion, Lauren was able to catch one.

She was happy to share her new friend with another girl.

This butterfly thought Caroline's shirt made a nice resting spot.

We were all captivated by how many varieties of butterflies there are.

And I even got to bring these two butterflies home as a souvenier!

Pre-Game Picture

On our trip to the Life and Science Museum this morning, we ran into a distant cousin of the Hokie Bird....

Ominous? We'll find out in a few short hours.
Go Hokies.

A Day In the Life...

....of Lia, of course :)

Snuggle time with the girls

Doing a little school work with Caroline

Who knew school could be so fun?

Taking time to stop and smell the flowers...

...before heading off to her next adventure.

Caught...

I found these two on the porch the other day. My photography skills may be poor, but the love I saw was rich beyond measure.

Some people....

...enjoy their morning coffee...I enjoy my morning cuddle (thumb-sucking and all).

Always a good way to start the day.

Two Years Old and All is Well

Lia visited her new doctor today and did great during the exam. She stepped on the scale, said "ah" when she was supposed to, and even let the doctor examine her without sitting in my lap. She checked out well and all the doctor recommended was an increase in her caloric intake (what would I give to have a doctor tell me that!) and more attempts at getting her to drink the dreaded white stuff (milk).
Unfortunately, she had to end this lovely visit with 3 shots and a TB test (hence the colorful array of band-aids in the picture). But after a lollipop from the nurse, she was on the mend.
