We Have a House!

Yesterday was spent making offers and counter offers but by the end of the day we had come to terms on what appears to be our new house in North Carolina. We still have appraisal and home inspection stuff to work through but don't forsee any problems there.

Even though it appears that it is my lot in life to never own a house with a useable basement, we are very thankful to have a new place to soon call "home."

Learning to Share

As you can see by the above picture, Lia is a fan of the plastic Diego water toy. Any guesses as to who else might have a fond affection for the same toy? Mmmm hmmm.

So today we had some lessons in sharing and for the most part it went over pretty well. Once we learn to communicate our feelings from start to finish without glass-shattering wails or gutteral screams, we'll call it a success.
Alex is affirming Lia's attempt at sharing by giving her the ol' thumbs up sign (even though Diego still remains solely in her possession).

Good job guys. Diego would be proud.

Sundays on the Porch

We don't have too many Sundays left to enjoy this front porch before we move, but we did make the most of it this afternoon.....

Weekend with Nana and Grandaddy

It wasn't too long ago that Nana and Grandaddy came up for a visit which meant all sorts of fun things for the kids:

Like making brownies with Nana.

They appear to be as good of a treat before they go into the oven as they are after they come out!

While waiting for the brownies to finish, they decided to play a game of Yahtzee out on the porch.

Then Alex wanted to help Grandaddy do a little mowing. Here they are on their 103rd trip around the yard.
Lia made it around once before signaling that she was "all done."
After that she decided she preferred hanging out with Nana.

Finally, Alex and Grandaddy take in a little BP while waiting for dinner.
He's a natural :)

All in all a very fun weekend!

Hangin' with the Big Boys

Lia loves to imitate what she sees going on around her. So yesterday morning, when Michael was playing laser tag with friends, she needed to get in on the action:
First, she covers her eyes, so that everyone can find a hiding spot.

Then she scans the area by looking left...

looking right...

...and nailing herself a Stuart!

And she seems quite happy about her accomplishment :)

Happy Birthday Michael!

Today is Michael's 12th birthday (so hard to believe) and we took him out to lunch at the restaurant of his choosing followed by cake batter ice cream at Kline's.

The waitress was nice enough to ask if we wanted a family picture (allowing it to be documented that yes, I am actually a member of this family)

And now the countdown has officially started...364 days and counting until we have our first teenageer! Yikes.

Only 3 months?

The end of spring activities, followed by the beginning of summer ones, has left little time for posting. But I didn't want to let Lia's 3 month anniversary pass without stating once again how amazed I am that she has only been home 3 months.

Happy 3 month anniversary little girl!
