One Week Today

Yesterday, we stayed home (for the most part) and Lia started to explore her new world a little bit more. She would take my finger and lead me all over the house into the different rooms just to see what they were like. She's continuing to do so well. She's eating better even though she's got definite opinions about what she likes and what she doesn't (but so did all my other 18 month olds). And today, she even signed the word for "more" when I asked her if she wanted more oatmeal. I had only shown her that sign a couple of times earlier in the week!

Today, I let her fall asleep in her crib on her own for naptime. She cried a little but it was more from being tired than anything else. When I peeked in on her, she was sucking her thumb and sound asleep. (This was more of a milestone for me than her since she has probably been able to do it for a while...I'm the one that needed to learn that is was OK for her to cry a little before falling asleep).

Bathtime is still no fun. There's a lot of screaming during baths. Not sure why. I can do every other day with baths but she's not liking them much at all right now. On the other hand, I LOVE my showers, I'm just having trouble finding the time. So unfortunately, I'm on the every-other-day plan, too.

Here are some photos from yesterday:

It's hard to believe she's only been home for a week!

  1. Glad things are continuing to go well! Lia seems so comfortable in the pictures.
And I finally ended the "mommy on every other day shower cycle" by getting a new hair cut that requires me to wash my hair every day. Ian makes sure to allow me time to shower before he goes to work now and it's made life so much happier!

  2. Only one week and you have come so far. A huge amount of change for everyone in the family, especially Lia and you, and things going so smoothly - must be the Lord's doing! What an awesome God we serve!

  4. These kid are so quick on somethings. Matti cried a bit at nap and night night for about a week maybe 2 but now no problem at all. We read, pray, sing then rock. She goes to sleep but then wakes up when I stand up to lay her in bed. I then lay her down as she sleeps on her back (flat head) and tell her what a good girl she is and keep saying as I walk out the door. Works for her at least.

  5. How fun to explore a new world. I remember when we'd move to a new house, the exploring around the house the yard the land, was exhilarating! Sweet post Angela.
