Maggie's Magic Milk

We've been having trouble getting Lia to drink any liquids ever since receiving her last Monday. Her papers said that she drank a bottle of formula each night before going to bed, but I haven't been able to get her to take formula, juice, milk or water. We tried bottles, sippy cups, anything...to the point where I was spoon feeding her water just so she'd be getting something.

Well, yesterday, as Scott was walking with a few other people to the store, he asked our guide, Maggie, what she suggested. At the store, she showed him a flavored yogurt drink (which is more the consistency of milk) that many kids in China like. He bought some and we tried it out. Within a few hours, she had downed 3 bottles and is currently on her fourth (by using her sippy cup). And at dinner last night, she ate her body weight in fried rice with egg, some pork, and drumroll please....broccoli and cauliflower.

We are calling it Maggie's Magic Milk and once again, our guides have proven to be life savers.

  1. Lydia loved that yogurt drink too! So thankful you have had wonderful guides--and some beautiful spots to see! Yesterday Miss Lydia asked, "Mom, what time it is?" I replied with the time--and then she asked--"Is it time for Lia to come play baby dolls in my room?" She is ready Lia! Lydia has big plans for you! Can't wait for you guys to get together and play baby dolls together!!!

  2. I think I know exactly what "magic milk" you are talking about ~ Caleb came to us with six bottles of the stuff...
And to this day it is the only dairy product besides yogurt he will consume!
Congrats on the broccoli and cauliflower! She is just so precious, keep the pictures coming!

  4. What a comforting story. I have heard the AWAA guides are amazing. As someone waiting to get a referral--and hopefully travel--we are so comforted knowing they can and do help. And yeah on the veggie's :) Love, Lisa A

  5. Yes your right the awaa guides are the best. My in province guide actually went and bought us a bottle and brought it to us in our hotel cause we left ours in a taxi. Matti only eats yogurt and Cheese. She also does not drink much.I'm glad you got her to drink something.

  6. Your guides are amazing and it's the little things like this that make them so valuable. I was getting bus sick, and asked Sherri for something. She came back with something that I couldn't read but it worked!
