From Sorrow to Joy

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.  ~Psalm 30:11

He speaks of  it over and over again all throughout Scripture.

You'll find it in the words of Isaiah,
and Jeremiah,

and David.

And I was reminded of it once again when I watched this video.

How He takes our sorrows
will all their bitter pain
and deepest grief
and loneliest mourning

and how He,
the great God of all comfort
turns them

transforms them, really,

into joy.

Beauty from ashes.
Sorrow into joy.

Unless you have journeyed a while through the Valley of the Shadow of Death,

the value of that statement might not resonate.

But my friend Hannah has.

And in this video, she recounts her memories of precious Paige,
the little one whose life,
although cut brief due to a weak heart,
changed her
forever.

And how the days following Paige's passing were incredibly hard
and filled with
the sorrow
the pain and
the mourning
that so often come with loving others dangerously.

Loving like He loved.

But as Paige's life is remembered
and celebrated
and honored
joy is on the horizon.

Joy, as another little one,
Lydia,
who is facing the same dire circumstances as Paige once did,
is offered a chance at a life-changing heart surgery,
a chance at hope,
and a chance at life.

A chance to experience joy herself.
