Ten years ago today, we were all gathered in the hospital awaiting your arrival (which was a week overdue by the way). We're so glad you decided to finally make an appearance because life certainly wouldn't be the same without your sweet spirit.
Happy birthday! We love you!

The Next Donny and Marie?
This little video of Alex and Lia is just a few minutes of them being...well, being Alex and Lia. On the way to church that morning, Alex taught her how to play "air guitar" (complete with facial expressions), so that's what she's doing while he's rocking out.
After she's heard enough, she decides to use a pencil eraser for an earplug before they are both off and running to their next adventure....
Never a dull moment.

Riding In Style
Alex's buddy Sayer called this morning to see if Alex could come hang out at his house for a while. He said he could swing by and pick him up.
Since it was such a beautiful morning, he put the top down and they rode off to their playdate in style.

PS (Alex really like riding in your car, Ruthie...hope you are feeling better and still having fun in Africa!)

Not to be Outdone...
We just back from the doctor's yet again with another prescription in hand. This time it's for Lia's ear infection. Guess she thought Alex was having so much fun taking his antibiotic, she needed some too.
Seems like at this point we ought to have our own private room at the pediatrician's. Think I'm going to start looking for recipes including amoxicillan since we'll be taking it for a while.
Still spunky even while sick

At the Park
Lauren asked if she could walk Alex and Lia over to the park across the street from our house this afternoon. I thought for about a nano-second and said, "Sure."
I let them have some time together before I wandered over (camera in hand, just in case...) and saw she was doing a great job being this mother's little helper.
Still learning how to master those stairs though :)
Everybody pile on Lauren!

Back to Super Hero Status...
A mere 48 hours after being diagnosed with a double ear infection, Super Alex is back on patrol keeping evil at bay once again and leaving many asking....
Is it a bird?
Is it a plane?
"No, it's just me, Awex..." (as he would say, the humble hero that he is)
Rest well, fair maiden...
Super Alex is back and better than ever.

Poor Little Guy
For the past 3 or 4 weeks (maybe longer, I've lost count), we've been dealing with a nasty virus that has included several days of a fever topped off with some lovely cold symptoms. Today, Alex ended up at the doctor's office with a double ear infection and was not shy in letting everyone there know how miserable he felt. Lia, being the sympathetic little sister, had to chime in as well, just so that he wouldn't be the only one wailing. It was fun, as you might imagine.
This hard experience for our "little tough guy" has prompted him to think about all those things in his 3 year-old life that are unpleasant. So throughout the day he's been telling me (in his own way) that he would like to clear his calendar (indefinitely) of the following injustices: swimming lessons, haircuts, baths, and naps. Just before bed tonight, he tried to add "using the bathroom" to the list but some things just aren't negotiable.
The amoxicillan seems to be starting to work on his ear infection. Too bad they don't make an antibiotic for everything else that ails him.

The Blog Bug Infects 2 More....
The "blog bug" has infected 2 more members of our household. Lauren and Caroline have decided that they want to join the world wide web and blog about the ups and downs of our upcoming move to a new state.
Their blogs are listed on my sidebar (Chronicles of Carolina and Big Changes) and they are very cute bloggers (if I do say so myself).

Table for Two
Last night, we were a little late in getting dinner cleaned up (nothing new there). I was trying to get a few other things done, and when I came around the corner I noticed that the dynamic duo had decided to belly up to the bar and help themselves to a second round of dinner.
Cheese! (Cheese pizza, that is).

Brunch Buddy
On Mother's Day, Scott and the kids made brunch for me after church. After eating, the older ones ran off to play leaving this sweet little face smiling at me from across the table.
I guess her tiny 20 lb. frame wasn't full yet!
After eating, she donned her Nerf "cosmic catch" bracelets
Had Prince Charming put on her slippers
Best part of the day? Hearing her say "Ma Ma" loud and clear. All in all a very good Mother's Day.

The Weekend
This weekend we were visited not only by Nana and Grandaddy but by the sun as well! So we made the most of our opportunities by spending a lot of time outside.
So focused.
And very serious about her work.
Everything's more fun with Nana.
My free spirit. Loving the ripstick.
Hanging out in Grandaddy's truck.
Little lady in red.
On our way to the piano recital.
'Til next time...have a great week!
