Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time ~Oswald Chambers

I Knew It Was Too Quiet...

My lunch preparations were going far too smoothly. I should have known something was up.

Apparently, she found some lipstick.

And liked the color.
Not that those pretty little lips needed any enhancing.
But I did manage to get lunch on the table in record time.

Guitar Hero

After just a few lessons, Michael has learned one of the timeless truths about music...

Chicks dig guitar players.

See for yourself.

Not sure which is more impressive...his learning the chords to "Lord, I Lift Your Name On High" already, or her ability to belt it out while simultaneously eating pasta.

Pitchers and Catchers Reporting...

It's finally here.

Baseball season.

He's talked about it for as long as I can remember.

His first word was "ball."

Well...actually his first words were more like "Can I watch a show?" followed soon after by "Is it snack time?" but then...then...it was "ball."

And whenever he's asked what he wants to be when he grows up, the answer is always the same..."a baseball player."

Which is funny because we don't watch baseball. Or play it.
We are a football family by nature.
And he's mentioned from time to time about wanting to play football for the Hokies when he grows up.
"What position?" we'll ask him.
"I just want to tackle people" he'll say. So appropriate.

But nothing compares with his passion for baseball.

So the time has finally come when he can suit up and play.

And with one practice under his belt, the first game is Saturday.

If what we saw tonight is a taste of what's to come, it's going to be a very entertaining season.

And just in case you were wondering, he's not the only player in the house...

But this one? She is most definitely in a league of her own.

You Know It's Bad...

...when you have to go incognito in your own home to avoid the paparazzi (also known as your mother)...

The life of a celebrity can be just so exhausting...but she handles it well I think :)

Before and After...

This is my sweet girl before being bribed with a chocolate chip to smile for the camera...

And here she is after happily accepting the bribe...

About 3 in the afternoon, I have the same transformation myself after a handful of chocolate chips...

Like mother, like daughter...

The Little Feet...

...that fill these shoes will soon be coming down the stairs.

The princess and the speedster.

And the quiet of the morning will be gone till tomorrow.

And the work of today will begin.

But know what?

I wouldn't have it any other way.

"But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me." Psalm 13:5,6

Just because it's Monday...

...and there's not a whole lot going on...

...and it's a little gray and a little windy...

...doesn't mean there isn't cuteness...

'cause around here...there's always cuteness :)

Movin' On Up...

She did it.

Last night, my teeny tiny princess slept in her big girl bed for the first time.

And when I say big girl bed, I mean BIG girl BED!

See, one of the perks of having your room be the guest room is...you get a BIG bed...

Are you able to spot her in the midst of all that bed?
Hint: top right corner :)
Yeah, I know...the bed rails seem a little ridiculous on a bed that size, but I've spent enough nights in the same bed with this one to know that she does enough tumbling moves during her sleep to put Mary Lou Retton to shame. Case in point, we found her completely upside down this morning when we got her up.

She was in a good mood this morning
(and who wouldn't be after sleeping in a bed to girl ratio like that all night?),
so we got a gratuitous foot shot.
Couldn't pass up all those tiny toes!

Time to take down the crib.
You know my girl, where there are tools being used, there's Lia.

Screwdriver in hand, ready to get to work...
With warmer weather coming, we'll soon be tackling the next milestone on the list...potty training. Oh to have it be this easy...

It's Coming...

It caught me surprise as I walked by the window today.

Saw it out of the corner of my eye.

I should have remembered that no matter how long it seems to have been gone, it always returns.

A reminder that winter is only temporary.

And a promise that the beauty of spring is on its way.

My Shoe Girl

It's the first thing she puts on in the morning when she pops out of bed.

And it's the last thing she takes off at night.

Her beloved shoes.

Whether it's the black boots with faux fur...

The tan suede ones, which in her stylebook, go with everything...

The pretty purple ones with just a touch of whimsy...

Or the basic black Mary Janes...

The shoes don't make the girl.
Oh no.
The girl, most definitely, makes the shoes.

What Do You Call Someone...

...who gives you a push when you need it...
...and makes you smile when you don't feel like it...

...who plays with you when no one else is around...

...and loves you no matter what?

Lia calls her "sister."

On the Mend...

Alex is still on the road to recovery after doing battle with the latest virus to hit our house. On days like today, I am thankful for Gatorade, Motrin, Leapsters...

...and Blue's Clues. How did I survive these things before Noggin?

And thanks to the dreaded stomach bug, Lia has found a new indulgence...popsicles.

With 5 kids in the house, popsicles are usually reserved for the sickly, otherwise they are gone in a day.
Try telling that to this face...
Yeah, I'll admit it, I caved. Blame it on the 2 hours of sleep I got last night.
But as you can see nobody, and I mean nobody came between her and that popsicle.

Not even her 100 pound pup (whom she is telling here "Don't even think about it).

I don't know about you but I think she's got a little Clint Eastwood in her. You know, "Go ahead, punk, make my day..."
Makes me glad we bought 2 boxes.

Ahhhh.....

Nothing like a little sunshine and warm weather to boost the spirits.

Sadly, though, what started as a glorious day ended with a stomach bug for one of the crew.
And so it goes with spring...
